Learner Conduct & Attendance Policy
Effective Date: 12th November 2025
RJL Education is committed to providing a safe, professional, and inclusive learning environment for all learners. This policy sets out the standards of behaviour, attendance, and professional conduct expected throughout the duration of any course, programme, or qualification offered by RJL Education. All learners are required to comply with these standards, and failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the course without refund.
Full and consistent attendance is essential for the successful completion of all courses, particularly VTCT qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 and Level 3, which are delivered over a twenty-week period. Learners are expected to attend all scheduled sessions unless exceptional, authorised circumstances prevent this. Absence exceeding seven days, whether consecutively or cumulatively, may place the learner at risk of failing to meet the necessary requirements to complete the qualification. Where additional training is required due to missed sessions, learners will be expected to attend supplementary sessions, which will be charged at a rate of £40 per day until all course requirements are met. Any holidays or personal leave taken during the course will not be compensated and will count towards the learner’s attendance record. Persistent lateness, unexplained absences, or failure to communicate with tutors may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the course without refund.
All learners are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner at all times. This includes demonstrating courtesy and respect towards staff, peers, clients, and visitors. Behaviour that is disruptive, aggressive, disrespectful, or discriminatory will not be tolerated. RJL Education reserves the right to dismiss any learner whose behaviour is deemed inappropriate, unsafe, or detrimental to the learning environment. Such dismissal will be immediate and will not entitle the learner to any refund of fees paid.
Learners are also expected to maintain high standards of personal appearance and presentation. Uniforms, where required, should be clean, professional, and appropriate for the course environment, and overall appearance, including hair and nails, should meet professional standards suitable for a salon or training setting.
RJL Education operates a strict no-smoking policy across all premises, including the use of electronic cigarettes and vapes. The possession, use, or distribution of alcohol, illegal drugs, or controlled substances on site or during course hours is strictly prohibited. Any breach of this policy will result in immediate dismissal from the course without refund.
All learners are required to comply with health and safety regulations at all times, including the correct use of personal protective equipment and adherence to the instructions of tutors or designated staff. Failure to comply with health and safety requirements may result in suspension or removal from the course. Mobile phones and other personal electronic devices must be silenced or switched off during training sessions, and may only be used for study purposes when expressly permitted by the tutor.
RJL Education is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all learners. Any concerns regarding personal safety, the safety of others, or inappropriate behaviour should be reported immediately to a member of staff or via info@rjleducation.uk. Designated safeguarding officers will respond promptly to reports in accordance with safeguarding procedures and statutory requirements. Learners are expected to cooperate fully with any safeguarding investigation or procedure, and failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the course without refund.
RJL Education is dedicated to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of its provision. All learners, staff, and visitors are entitled to learn and work in an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or victimisation on the basis of age, race, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity (including transgender and non-binary learners), disability, religion or belief, or any other protected characteristic. Learners are expected to act in a manner that supports an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Any form of discriminatory behaviour, harassment, or bullying may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the course without refund. Learners who experience or witness discriminatory behaviour are encouraged to report it promptly.
Learners are expected to maintain professional and responsible conduct on social media and other online platforms. Any posts, comments, images, or messages that are offensive, discriminatory, harassing, defamatory, or that identify RJL Education, its staff, learners, or clients in a negative light are strictly prohibited. Breaches of this expectation may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the course without refund.
RJL Education operates a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying, harassment, intimidation, or victimisation of any kind. Learners are entitled to a learning environment free from verbal, physical, or psychological abuse. Behaviour that constitutes bullying or harassment, including cyberbullying, will be investigated and may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the course without refund. Learners who experience or witness bullying or harassment are encouraged to report it immediately to staff, and all reports will be treated confidentially and investigated promptly.
RJL Education is committed to addressing learner concerns fairly, transparently, and promptly. Learners who have a grievance relating to the course, teaching, behaviour of staff or peers, or any other aspect of their learning experience should submit their concern in writing to info@rjleducation.uk, including full details and supporting evidence. All grievances will be investigated by senior management, and learners will receive a formal response outlining the findings and any actions to be taken. Learners may appeal the outcome if they are dissatisfied with the resolution, with the appeal reviewed by a senior director. The decision following an appeal is final.
By enrolling with RJL Education, learners confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Learner Conduct and Attendance Policy. Compliance with this policy is a condition of enrolment, and failure to adhere to its requirements may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the course without refund.
